Poudre Organic is the brainchild of Manon and Quentin who, having struggled to find affordable ecological and natural clothing for their third child, started to make a range of simple, practical and beautiful clothing for their daughters. Inspired by fabrics such as organic cotton muslin gauze and traditional, vintage styling this evolved into a much admired collection of clothing that other people both loved and wanted too and so in 2014, Poudre Organic was born.
As the name itself suggests, everything in the collection is organic and the clothing itself is ethically made in Portugal using only the softest organic cottons that are GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified as well as other low energy materials such as linen. Their designs are lovingly put together in small scale surroundings where the name of every seamstress is known to Manon and Quentin.
Mini Rodini are a firm favourite here at Junior Edition - they are one of our longest standing brands and like you, we love their quirky and colourful prints, the quality (their clothing washes and wears SO well) and most importantly of all, that everything is manufactured with care for animals, people and the planet.
Their latest collection is an absolute corker and draws its inspiration from the slow and romantic journey by train across the continent on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Prints and styles represent a number of different stops en route that include Stockholm, Moscow, Ulan Bator, Beijing and Seoul.
I was never not going to write about this collaboration, E.T has been my favourite film forever, I have watched it scores and scores of times, I have a whole box of ET themed merch in tucked away in my loft and a giant stuffed toy in my room, I cried when I rode on the ride at Universal Studios in Florida. You get the picture, OBSESSED.
Keeping this collection a secret was harder for me than the first 3 months of pregnancy, I have basically been almost self-combusting with excitement in the months since it was first announced and it is such a relief to finally be able to shout it from the rooftops - ET PHONE MINI RODINI HAS ARRIVED!!!
The first instalment of the (quite frankly AMAZING) AW20 collection from The Animals Observatory dropped on July 21st at the slightly un-godly hour of 6am CET (thats 5am UK time folks, 5am!) so armed with lots of strong coffee and slightly bleary-eyed we hit the launch button and waited for lift-off!
Launch days are always a slightly apprehensive affair, will you love it as much as we do, did we plump for the pieces you are going to love? The answer was a resounding YES and we were thrilled to read all of your positive feedback and see several pieces and sizes sell out in those first couple of days. When you get all the feels, we get the all the feels too so thank you!
Love is very much in the air and whether you engage with the hoo-ha of Valentines Day or not, one thing that can't have gone unnoticed is the proliferation of hearts this season, lots of our favourite brands have incorporated them into their collections and we are absolutely head over heels with the results!
Mini Rodini launched the second chapter of their Diana collection yesterday and they have gone big with lots of beautiful hearts, featuring singularly on dresses, blouses, bodysuits and sun hats as well as working in combination with horseshoes and clovers for the amazing lucky charm laden print - we have this in dresses, tees and leggings for older kids up to age 11 and it also works beautifully for babies, check out this adorable little newborn set!
There is absolutely no way we could not make mention of the sensational cap from this chapter. Mini Rodini have absolutely nailed it with their butterfly cap in an all over heart print. A red butterfly patch in up-cycled polysatin decorates the front and the cap has an adjustable strap to enable that perfect fit. We think its a little bit out of this world!
Tinycottons launched their SS20 collection back in January and it has been so well received! Dolce Far Niente, as the name suggests, is rooted in all things Italian and reflects on the art of not doing very much at all and enjoying the simple pleasures that life brings. We love the cute cross back dress with the all over hearts print in red and brick (and that enviable bubble gum bubble!). Made in soft babbula cotton it has a button front opening and side seam pockets, super cute and really wearable to boot.
Bobo Choses are also bringing us a whole lot of love this season. The striking all over heart print features on dresses, a skirt, a baby blouse and trousers and a gorgeous swimsuit with crossover ruffle straps available in both kid and baby sizes.
Never one to be left in anyone's shadow is The Animals Observatory, their brilliant Weasel Dress in an all-over blue heart print is gathered at the waist and features ruffled cap sleeves. Available in kids age 2 - 10 years this is a really versatile dress that works as well with trainers and a cap as it does for a special occasion!
Whether you're feeling the love or not this Valentines, indulge in a little retail therapy to help keep spirits high - with lots of spring/summer collections now online to inject a little sunshine into everyone's lives. Happy Valentines y'all!
The Animals Observatory launched their incredible SS20 collection on Tuesday 28th January with several styles on track to sell out in the first week!
TAO's Creative Director, Laila Aguilar, finds inspiration in a number of recurring themes that include vintage clothing, typography as well as the work of certain painters, architects and interior designers which is as evident with this collection as in previous seasons.
For Spring/Summer 2020, Laila pays homage to the romantic world of flowers and the richness of their colour palette. There are a number of truly beautiful prints and styles available for babies in playsuits, sweatshirts, culottes and bodysuits with dresses, shirts, skirts, sweatshirts, jumpsuits, t-shirts and scarves for older children.
The gentle nature of flowers and the muted colours so reminiscent of Eric Rohmer's films contrast with the dazzling and radical style of classic rock stars. Like you, we love the violet this season, it works so beautifully with this typeface!
The latest collection also portrays the elegance of 1970s Saint Tropez. Classic and vintage patterns draw inspiration from Tex Avery cartoons and reflect the natural elegance of iconic figures such as Lauren Hutton, Caroline Bessette, John Kennedy, Brooke Shields and Jackie Kennedy in their youth.
TAO pieces are practical, playful and comfortable and always true to the philosophy central to the brand, to be a good animal, true to your instincts.
With over 120 styles available across baby sizes 6 to 18 months and kid sizes 2 to 10 years, there really is something for everyone. Shop the full collection here or come and visit our lovely shop in beautiful Brighton where we will have an edit of key pieces available in the near future.
Dolce Far Niente is a way of life, the art of not doing very much at all and enjoying the simple pleasures that life brings. It also happens to be the name of the latest collection by Tiny Cottons, one rooted in all things Italian as the name suggests.
Inspired by warm, sunny summers in Italy the collection is a nod to the slow life philosophy that the Italians have mastered so perfectly. A colour palette of yellows, greens, blues and terracotta are combined with a series of super cute prints. Strawberries, oranges, sunshine, flowers, hearts and the sweetest little sausage dogs are all designed to transport us to the landscape and culture of Italy.
As well of lots of unisex pieces and some fabulously cute knitwear we have some gorgeous summer dresses - strawberry, heart, sunshine and vichy designs all feature in Drop 1 as well accessories including this fabulous check bucket hat. (We ate all the biscuits, sorry.)
In Drop 2 we have a beautiful swimwear collection including this one piece in the Il Bassotto sausage dog print which would be perfectly teamed with the transparent jelly shoes designed to keep little feet safe on the beach (also available in light pink, cerulean blue, red and yellow and landing in Drop 2 ).
Drop 1 launched Wednesday 22nd January and is already online here with Drop 2 following on Wednesday 19th February. We are stocking baby sizes at 6, 9, 12 and 18 months plus kids sizes 2, 4, 6 and 8 years, lots of styles and lots of choice, we hope you enjoy our edit!
Christmas - that crazy, wondrous period of excess - how we LOVE it!! Inevitably we've overdone it again this year and whilst the focus still firmly remains on ploughing through the five (!) remaining boxes of chocolates before the end of December we have also had THAT conversation in our house - the carb-free, alcohol-free, oh my god I have a whole stone to lose one. Yes, as of January 1st we are strictly BACK TO BASICS!
We've had a little re-jig on the shop floor this morning too, taking a moment to coo over those gorgeously outlandish seasonal prints and patterns we have so loved AW17 but also appreciating those practically perfect basics. The ones that go with everything, the ones that tame a pair of intensely patterned leggings and those that come together to make a more muted yet equally beautiful and classic ensemble.
MarMar Copenhagen were a new brand for us this season, their gorgeous tulle skirt and gold lurex cardigan were one of our party picks in a previous blog post but its their newborn baby bits that have stolen our hearts. The striped and black rib pictured below are also available in rose, blue, and melange grey, both beautiful and practical.
We love that leopard is considered a basic by Mini Rodini, its such an ace print and surprisingly versatile. In our house the leggings are probably the most requested piece, I literally can't wash and dry them quickly enough for the next wear! All bases are covered from short sleeve tees and grandad shirts to rompers and bodysuits, but its the fleeces that have been proving really useful during this cold spell. I would literally live in the onesie if they made it big enough!
Gray Label brings calmness to the world of children’s fashion with their minimalistic basic line. Their gently coloured wardrobe essentials are made from 100% organic cotton and are 100% GOTS certified, they really are quite simply the softest thing ever. The tiny baby range make perfect newborn gifts whilst for the older kids we really love the pinafore dresses and salopettes with coordinating tees and cardigans as well the long sleeve playsuits for lazy days at home.
We adored the Tinycottons main collection inspired by the high plains of South America this Autumn/Winter (llama love!) and earlier this month were thrilled to announce that we are one of 25 hand-picked retailers worldwide to stock their new basics range. The collection is full of minimal, premium quality basics in world-friendly organic cottons with simple, well thought out detailing. We stocked up on bodysuits, bonnets, blankets and bibs in light beige for our most junior edition but there are some lovely undies for the older ones too.
Indulge yourself further with a look at our complete collection here or come visit our beautiful store in the heart of Brighton's North Laine area.
