Kamso: Inspired by African Heritage
We are delighted to welcome Kamso to Junior Edition for the first time this season. Founded by Seyi Sokoya, it is the most beautiful children's lifestyle brand, ethically made and inspired by African heritage. For boys and girls up to 8 years of age.
Seyi was inspired to create Kamso after graduating. She became a mother during her last year of university and had noticed that children's clothing lacked the authenticity she associated with African heritage with African inspired clothing often relying heavily on the use of intense prints in their design.
1+ In The Family: Soft and Comfortable Baby Clothing
1+ In The Family first launched back in the Autumn of 2012 and was created by Gemma Mases, an experienced designer who is mum to three children herself and, by her admission, something of a children's fashion enthusiast!
The brand launch coincided at with the birth of the designer's niece, little baby Bruna and, as Gemma recounts, it is her sisters brave decision to start a family as a single mother that encouraged her to undertake a project that she had been dreaming for so long, and so 1+ In The Family was also born.
The Birinit Bunch
Launched back in 2019 Birinit Petit hails from Spain and is the brainchild of two long-standing friends, Sara and Anita. Mothers themselves to six children they have created a brand that is truly close to their hearts, bringing to life timeless designs with enduring appeal.
The slow fashion ethos is central to everything they do and great care goes into the design and production of each piece in every collection. Prints are hand-painted and always exclusive to Birinit, fabrics carefully selected and retailers limited to few. Whether dressing for a special occasion or an afternoon in park, their clothing is beautifully versatile and we are delighted to launch our second collection with Birinit for the spring/summer season.
Mini Rodini: The Future Looks Bright, Pre AW22
The latest collection from Mini Rodini is a triumphant return to Mini Rodini at its best, with Cassandra Rhodin's signature prints and the return of some much loved prints from the Mini Rodini archives.
For this collection, Cassandra takes inspiration from New York City in the 70s and the intriguing psychic shops in Manhattan's Lower East Side. Will you be spending the summer in the breezy Hamptons or staying in the city in the hot buzzing streets of New York?
Meadows: Romantic and Feminine Womenswear
We are thrilled to add Meadows to our womenswear portfolio here at Junior Edition and judging by the feedback to our instagram post introducing the brand so you are you!
We really appreciate the warm welcome and your enthusiasm for this beautiful brand and send thanks to those of you who have already shopped this collection with us, adding some of the most beautiful pieces of the season to your Spring/Summer wardrobe. We really look forward to seeing your pictures when the warm weather returns and if you are happy for us to share your images on instagram don't forget to tag us!
We Are The New Society: The Sea Side of Life
The New Society is a truly beautiful collection of clothes for both children and women created by Estefania Grandio in Madrid. Designed with sustainability and made in Europe using organic fabrics it is our third season with this beautiful brand.
Their SS21 collection is called The Sea Side Of Life - as seaside dwelling folks ourselves it was always going to be a concept we were going to fall in love with, even if Brighton isn't quite as evocative of sunny sandy days as the med!
All Aboard! Mini Rodini on the Trans-Siberian Railway
Mini Rodini are a firm favourite here at Junior Edition - they are one of our longest standing brands and like you, we love their quirky and colourful prints, the quality (their clothing washes and wears SO well) and most importantly of all, that everything is manufactured with care for animals, people and the planet.
Their latest collection is an absolute corker and draws its inspiration from the slow and romantic journey by train across the continent on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Prints and styles represent a number of different stops en route that include Stockholm, Moscow, Ulan Bator, Beijing and Seoul.
Bobo Choses: For President
Bobo Choses is our first Spring/Summer collection of the year and WOW! What a way to start... For President is everything we love about Bobo - soft naturals meet beautiful bolds and quirky, colourful prints abound.
Ear-to-ear smiles, friendly pet lions, funny pepper presidential candidates, big tomatoes and smiley-fingered hands - this collection is SO much fun and one the kids are guaranteed to enjoy wearing.
New Collection: Bobo Choses Growing Young - The Catalogue of Marvellous Trades
There has been SO MUCH buzz around the new Bobo Choses AW20 collection and there's absolutely no denying that when I first laid eyes on this season I let out an audible gasp, this is Bobo at their absolute finest!
The adult collection is first out of the traps this season so you can spoil yourself before indulging the kids.....The Catalogue of Marvellous Trades is a celebration of creativity, possibility and freedom and it's a little bit amazing!
Mama Still Got It!
I think for so many of us, dressing our kids in gorgeous clothes give us great pleasure. Equally, I think that for some (certainly me) the investment both emotionally and financially in our own wardrobes has waned slightly, now that there are small people to dress. And certainly (for many mamas) things aren't in the same place or the same shape as they used to be, having undertaken the immense task of carrying/birthing children and breast-feeding.
I am a default jeans and trainers kind of girl, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's a practical, comfortable and safe look that works well. There's occasions though where I do find myself feeling a bit meh as my staying in and going out clothes are one and the same! And so we've decided to broaden our horizons a bit and branch out a little further than we have historically into womenswear, with so many of our favourite baby and kid brands having adult offshoots with some really lovely pieces.
Emile et Ida is one of the womenswear brands we have decided to focus on this spring/summer - they design and produce deliciously retro basics with folky roots. Its a really wearable collection and one that can be as easily dressed up as down plus (bonus!) lots of tees and tops that look great with jeans. With a colour palette of caramel and ecru together with dusty pinks and blues we are stocking skirts and dresses too from extra small to large.
We are also carrying Liilu in mama sizes this season for the first time. A really beautiful collection with a timeless feel. Every piece is made from 100% organic cotton muslin and we have a small but perfectly formed collection of dresses, skirts, shirts and blouses available but be quick, we are already down to the last item in several designs!
We are also delighted to be stocking Bobo Choses Growing Young again this Spring/Summer. A Dance Romance is an immensely fun collection that features prints and shapes from the kids collection. They have taken some of the very best pieces and given them just a little bit of a twist - we have some stand-out t shirts and sweatshirts (I may have brought them all!) but also some gorgeous knits and some beautifully printed shirts and midi skirts and so much more besides!
With additional pieces from Rylee and Cru, Mingo, My Moumout, Poudre Organic, Monkind, The Animals Observatory and Le Petit Germain plus adult sunglasses from Izipizi, its well worth a browse! We are currently in the throes of making our website a bit more user friendly, its still a work in progress but we have created a Womenswear section and you are now able to search by price, size and brand, it makes such a difference!
Womenswear is an area we hope to continue to grow.....we may well top up our existing collections this season and have already placed orders for Autumn/Winter 2020. Shop what we have so far online here, and watch this space for further news!
Wynken: Everybody Loves The Sunshine
I know we are lucky enough to have customers from all over the world so I don't want to harp on about it too much but my god it has been a horrendous winter here in the UK. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in the anti-winter brigade, I love a woolly jumper and a large glass of red by a roaring fire! I don't even mind the cold if the truth be told and I LOVE a bit of snow (rare as it is in this country) but it has been relentless rain and high winds for as long as I can remember. So. Over. It.
And so, in an attempt to pretend the outside isn't happening, I'm projecting all things summer related and taking a closer look at the gorgeous new collection by Wynken which is inspired by the classic Roy Ayers Song, Everybody Loves The Sunshine and perfectly encapsulates the laid back vibe of a sunny summer day.
For anyone not familiar with Wynken, they are a London based childrenswear brand creating unisex fashion for kids which we stock from three months all the way up to to eight years. Wynken was created by Elbe Lealman in 2014 shortly after becoming a mother herself, realising her dreams of creating a contemporary children's clothing line for modern kids. Wynken is one of those brands that is as popular with kids as it is the adults, with its strong design focus coupled with quality and wearability. The multitude of techniques used during manufacturing, from print to appliqué and embroidery means that every collection produced boasts rich and textured clothing that is kind to both the wearer and the environment. We're huge fans here!
The SS20 collection is a particularly special one - it's feel good, it's slow pace, it's slow play and it's oozing those good time summer vibes. There are SO MANY great pieces this season, but the dresses really are exquisite! The Gather Dress in Clay is my personal favourite. Relaxed and roomy with a frill sleeve, this pretty dress is made from clay colour linen cotton mix fabric and is printed with a distressed sunshine print in a darker clay tone. It has a crew neckline with button opening down the back bodice with the skirt gathered in to the waist seam. If this came in adult sizes I would 100% be wearing it! We have already sold out in age 8 but have 2, 4 and 6 years still available.
The Wynken caps and hats have always been super popular for us. We have the trademark wink caps in blue terry, bronze, deep coral and dull pink together with badge caps in golden, red/bronze and silver. We are also stocking the havana hat in four colour-ways and the glorious bucket hat (seen here with the sunshine stripe tee shirt and daily shorts) in both pink and sand. We have a hat for every occasion!
The cuban shirt also deserves a special mention......it's the most stunning relaxed fit shirt. It has a button front closure with a button and loop detail at collar giving an option to close up to the neck (it looks brill either way!). There are two lower front patch pockets and the cotton fabric has been printed with an all over sun print which has a distressed finish. Sold out in age 6 we still have ages 2,4 and 8 available at the moment.
Shop the full collection online here, and if you've not tried Wynken before we absolutely guarantee you won't be disappointed!
New Collection: Bobo Choses Growing Young - A Dance Romance
Hands up who has impeccably dressed kids but often neglects to buy anything new for themselves? I know I'm not alone! With the latest Bobo Choses Growing Young collection we are all out of excuses. Featuring prints and shapes from the kids collection, Bobo have given some very best pieces a little twist and come up with the most amazing capsule collection for growing-young adults who appreciate creativity and love to have fun!
For those not already familiar with their SS20 collection, A Dance Romance, it is (as the name suggests!) inspired by the joyful world of dance. With this collection, young-at-heart dancers are encouraged to let themselves go, feel the rhythm, dance and feel happy and if you've seen any of their brilliantly bonkers promo videos you'll have seen what they mean!
There are too many womenswear pieces on our must-have list to feature here. There are some stand-out t-shirts and sweatshirts, some lovely knits (we adore the oranges knitted short sleeve jumper) but also some beautiful printed shirts and midi skirts.
This is our second season carrying Growing Young and our first to feature menswear, we have chosen a few keys pieces that we think will appeal, taking twinning possibilities to tripletting possibilities if you are that way inclined!
Accessories include beautiful silky scarfs in either a leopard, chachacha kiss and all over pineapple print and some very cute short socks available in lips and leopard!
For the home we love these bamboo plates and cups - available separately as sets of four with the plates priced at just £26 and cups at £17.
