Grapat

Grapat was created in 2015 by Catalonian husband and wife team Casiana and Jordi Monczar.  Both have backgrounds in advertising and theatre, but left the city to start living in a rural environment, where, inspired by the free and creative play of their two children, they opened a workshop and created Grapat.  Jordi is the man of the workshop and Casiana is the most visible face, but both are the soul of Grapat.

Grapat is a very small artisan family business with a slow production process, concentrating on natural elements - raw materials and their origin, the dyes and each of the materials used and most importantly the working conditions of the employees of the supplier companies, their own employees and all persons involved.  Grapat collaborates with foundations of people with psychological difficulties, working with almost all local suppliers.  

Working at home with earth, fire and river around, and many children always close by, Casiana and Jordi are inspired daily by their children's free play, where loose parts and open and unstructured materials transform into what they decide, and need for their own development at that point in time. Grapat toys are natural materials without instructions, that incites and invites, and causes the creation of diverse worlds, fantastic, realistic and invented.
