News Edition
Oeuf: Heavy Petal
Brooklyn based Oeuf are a family-run studio and one of our longest-standing sustainable children’s brands. Formed back in 2002 by husband and wife team Michael Ryan and Sophie Demenge, they have been with us here at Junior Edition since the Spring/Summer season of 2018 and continue to delight us season after season with their beautifully playful childrenswear collections.
Combining intuitive design with a clean and simple style this is clothing that is designed to be loved hard and handed down. We know from personal experience how well it wears and washes and how enduring the styles and designs are having been passed from one child to the next here.
One Family: Three Beautiful Brands
Rylee and Cru have been with us since SS18. Founded by Californian Illustrator Kelli Murray Larson and inspired by her own young family, their collections are brimming with high quality basics. Timeless, comfortable and easy-to-wear styles in soft and subtle seasonal colour palettes and prints, for babies right through to adult.
More recently the Rylee and Cru collective have added two new brands to their portfolio, Noralee and Quincy Mae, both of which are delighted to be stocking for the first time this season.
The Simple Folk
We are thrilled to welcome The Simple Folk to Junior Edition this Autumn. Minimalist, organic and oh-so beautiful clothing for babies and young children up to 10 years of age, whose roots in nature and the natural world can be keenly felt.
Conceived by two friends during their shared journey through the early years of motherhood, Jamie Morea (who is based in Portugal, amongst their community of talented sewers and knitters) and Abi Brown (who lives in and works from London) wanted to create clothing for children reflective of their own lifestyle and philosophy, products that they found surprisingly difficult to find elsewhere, in the sea of fast-fashion brands.
A Warm Welcome to L.F Markey
New to Junior Edition for the forthcoming Autumn/Winter season is London based brand L.F Markey. We have long admired, loved (and worn) pieces from their collection of minimalist but elegant women's workwear staples and adding them to our growing portfolio of ethically produced, sustainable fashion is something of a dream come true. No prizes for guessing what I'll be top to toe in this season!
And, as if that wasn't exciting enough, we are THRILLED to be partnering with Louise to exclusively bring you her long-awaited, debut children's collection.
Bebe Organic : Beautiful and Unique
We were thrilled to welcome Bebe Organic to Junior Edition this year, such a beautiful brand that fits so perfectly with our ethos.
Bebe Organic was founded back in 2014 by mother of two and MA graduate of London College of Fashion, Birgit Kadak whose desire to create a range of original, organic childrenwear was driven by the struggle to find suitable clothing for her first-born child who had been diagnosed with atopic dermatitis, an extremely sensitive skin condition.
Marsou - Parisian Upcycled and Recycled Fashion
New for this Spring/Summer season is Paris based French brand Marsou. Founded back in 2016 by Laetitia Flandre after 5 years of working for luxury fashion house Chanel, Laetitia combines the beauty of high end fashion with sound environmental credentials. Marsou is clothing that cares for the planet and we are thrilled to add them to our growing portfolio of beautiful, sustainable brands.
Marsou creations are designed, hand-dyed and handmade in Paris using a combination of up-cycled fabric leftovers that are sourced from luxury French fashion houses together with organic certified and eco friendly fabrics free from chemicals that might harm both the body and the Earth.
Beautiful Bachaā
We are delighted to welcome beautiful French brand Bachaā to Junior Edition for the first time this season. Created in Paris in 2019 as an expression of a love for and connection to India, the name Bachaā is the phonetic transcription of the name that parents affectionately give to their children in Hindi (pronounced BaTchaA).
Bachaā create the prettiest clothing using artisanal processes such as block printing and hand embroidered detailing, for this reason no two garments are quite the same, every piece has its own slice of unique!
Poudre Organic: Para Sempre
Poudre Organic is the brainchild of Manon and Quentin who, having struggled to find affordable ecological and natural clothing for their third child, started to make a range of simple, practical and beautiful clothing for their daughters. Inspired by fabrics such as organic cotton muslin gauze and traditional, vintage styling this evolved into a much admired collection of clothing that other people both loved and wanted too and so in 2014, Poudre Organic was born.
As the name itself suggests, everything in the collection is organic and the clothing itself is ethically made in Portugal using only the softest organic cottons that are GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified as well as other low energy materials such as linen. Their designs are lovingly put together in small scale surroundings where the name of every seamstress is known to Manon and Quentin.
Welcome to Weekend House Kids!
We are delighted to reveal, and give a warm welcome to, our first new brand of 2021, the marvellous Weekend House Kids!
Weekend House Kids was established in 2018, in Mataró, a small sea town North of Barcelona with the intention of designing and creating a premium quality children's clothing with a quintessential Mediterranean feel. As a brand they are committed to responsible and environmentally conscious manufacturing and proudly put awareness about the planet we live in first. Their collections too are very much inspired by the natural world, with flora and animals woven into their collections in the most charming of designs.
Slow Fashion
Junior Edition is now 5 years old and, with the passage of time, we have become increasingly aware of the impact the fashion industry is having on both the planet and the people producing the clothing itself. Whilst we have always tried to make carefully considered choices, how we might be able to positively influence the future based on our decision making now has become increasingly important.
In more recent times we have started to adapt our buying practices, shifting focus to support, and bring, small volume artisan produced brands to our customers who have expressed a growing desire for 'Slow Fashion'.
Working To Build A Sustainable Future
Wow, what a rollercoaster of a year 2020 turned out to be! It was a bumpy old year but we made it through, in large part thanks to the support of our wonderful customers, thank you.
Amongst all of the chaos it has been a year of reflection for us, as a business. We first came into this five whole years ago now and there's no denying that it has been TOUGH on occasion, juggling family with a business that grew to include a physical store as well as online threw up some of the most enormous challenges. We have worked really hard across the last couple of years to smooth out operational issues. Securing a warehouse and having a proper distribution hub was a game-changer for us and we are lucky enough to have a really strong and committed team who have been nothing short of amazing during this pandemic.
ET Phone Mini Rodini
I was never not going to write about this collaboration, E.T has been my favourite film forever, I have watched it scores and scores of times, I have a whole box of ET themed merch in tucked away in my loft and a giant stuffed toy in my room, I cried when I rode on the ride at Universal Studios in Florida. You get the picture, OBSESSED.
Keeping this collection a secret was harder for me than the first 3 months of pregnancy, I have basically been almost self-combusting with excitement in the months since it was first announced and it is such a relief to finally be able to shout it from the rooftops - ET PHONE MINI RODINI HAS ARRIVED!!!
