Summer at Home with Liewood
Stylish Dining with Liewood
Whether baby led weaning or blitzing everything into a palatable puree, the transition from breast or bottle to solid food is such an exciting step, I remember literally counting down the days to the magic 6 month marker. We chose to roll with baby led weaning which was messy and fun and also a bit scary at times! I was so surprised about the variety in food and flavours such a small human was willing to try. I *may* have been a little smug on occasion.
Fast forward two years and and the baby I was so proud of, the baby that literally ate anything and everything went on lockdown!!! The eagerness and willingness to try new things felt as if it evaporated overnight and most things that were previously eaten were now refused. I was absolutely gutted but thanks to Liewood, I at least had beautiful tableware to serve fish-fingers on several times a week ; )
Liewood have an extensive cute yet practical range of baby and child tableware in a range of friendly characters.
The silicone placemats are great way of protecting furniture from spills and the silcone multi plates ideal for little ones with an appetite for plate throwing! Cute and practical in equal measure the multi plate is made from 100% recycled silicone, free from BPA and completely safe to use for food. It has four compartments in total, two large ones inside the head and two small ones inside at the ears. Available in both the panda and the cat characters and in a variety of colours.
When you are confident enough to move on from silcone, the bamboo baby dining sets are wonderful, they come boxed and consist of a plate, bowl, cup and spoon. Also available as a junior set as they grow.
The silicone bibs with a catch pocket are great, especially when out and about, as they wipe clean (as well as being dishwash-able), we have also found the silicone tot cup lid an on-the-go essential, it's super flexible, fitting both the Liewood bamboo cups and other cups or even glass ware, such a simple yet effective idea. Both the bibs and cup lids come in packs of two.
Snacks are big in our house and in truth it is an easy way of getting a bowlful of goodness in a child as mine will happily pick through a bowl of fruit or vegetables at several intervals across the day. I've not yet come across anything cuter than the four pack of Liewood Rex snack bowls, available in either a blue or rose mix of the same characters.
The Liewood range extends far beyond tableware. From clothing and accessories to towels, muslins and swaddles, from wooden toys to play gyms and even beach sets for anyone on a day-trip to see us in Brighton! Everything is available to view online and we have an extensive range available at our shop on the heart of Brighton's North Laine, the home of boutique shopping.
The Mini Rodini Space Odyssey - An Adventure Through Love, Space And Time
Mini Rodini's latest collection is absolutely out of this world awesome!
As a kid growing up in the 80s I remember being completely mesmerised by ET and all things outer space and those influences are keenly felt with this intergalactic collection. From cats with psychic powers and unidentified flying objects to a man in the moon delivering spiritual advice, this is a space odyssey with the most delicious of twists.
Of course we love it all, we always do but our absolute favourite favourite(s) are the space jackets, for the coolest of cool cats!
We also love, love, LOVE the rainbow hearts, which look especially cute in the dress and shirt but are also available in a skirt, blouse, short sleeve tee and cap.
Here in Brighton we have been enjoying an unusually pleasant run of sunshine which has been perfect for showing off our favourite shorts, tee and cap combination and the hooded dress has been absolutely perfect for bright but blowy blasts along the beach!
Let us not lose sight of the fact that we are of course UK based and it will only be a matter of time before the rain returns.....we couldn't be more ready for it with the gorgeous moon jacket for light summer showers (which packs away into the cutest of bum bags) and the edelweiss mouse mac and trousers for when mother nature unleashes her worst!
We have the full collection in-store now, come and browse these beauties in real life in our beautiful boutique in Brighton's North Lane or browse online here.
Emile et Ida - Deliciously Retro Basics
Emile et Ida, so fresh......so French! Spring/Summer 2018 is full of deliciously retro basics, inspired by folk, rock and romantic trends. The designs are simple, stylish AND comfortable, the colors are subtle, at times muted even and the detailing sublime! Emile et Ida have produced yet another beautifully elegant, fuss-free collection perfectly suited to the lives of busy and adventurous children!
We particularly love the ruffle detailing this season which can be found on the striped short dungarees, the bib dress in light chambray and (our personal favourite) the pink lurex stripe bib dress.
Socially and environmentally conscious, the Emile et Ida collection is largely manufactured in Portugal, a country renowned for its skill in textile creation. The fabrics are soft and natural and the patterns are always full of humour, we love how this cheeky little kitty has been incorporated into the collection and adore the delicate broderie anglaise blouse, such a cute outfit!
For the littlest ones there are beautiful bloomers, rad rompers and some super cute overalls in terry available in both a pink and blue stripe.
We absolutely adore this creative, charming and playful collection from Emile et Ida, available to lust over in its entirety here!
New Year - New Baby
A slightly belated, but hopefully not dreadfully late, Happy New Year!
There's something so exciting about new beginnings, a chance to wipe the slate clean and embrace something fresh. In our case this meant hot-footing it to the gym on January 2nd where we signed up for a WHOLE YEAR and embracing dry January for the first time ever!
The most special of all new beginnings of course though is the birth of a baby. As they enter the world for the first time, that wide-eyed innocence and promise of great things is intoxicating (especially helpful during dry January!).
We've introduced several new brands recently, both of which have some simply beautiful baby accessories.
Liewood are Copenhagen based and their collection is deeply rooted in the Nordic design tradition. They have an uncompromising and ethical approach to manufacturing and create conceptually strong products in irresistible designs for the modern family.
Their series of animal themed musical mobiles are exceptionally cute and play the classic tune 'Brahms Lullaby'.
We are huge fans of their lovely bamboo tableware sets, available in a range of animal designs and hugely popular with the little ones at mealtimes. We also have bibs in beautifully soft organic terry to catch the inevitable spills.
The animal theme continues across the most adorable face clothes, hooded towels, bathrobes, socks, tights and hats as well as muslins and swaddles which also come in a more traditional dot print coloured mustard, white, rose, dark and dumbo grey.
Also hailing from Danish shores is Konges Slöjd which was founded in 2014 by Emilie Konge Breindal who also designs the entire product range. Their design philosophy is to make tasteful children’s interior design and items that bring the little ones joy and are visually pleasing to the parent. Again ethical and environmentally friendly production is of utmost importance to the brand, as indeed it to us here.
As with Liewood they offer some stunning musical mobiles and we adore their gorgeous range of knitted rattles, especially the hammer!
They have an exceptional range of mobiles for baby's nursery. We have the swan up here in the shop and he looks wonderful in flight! The clouds are also truly beautiful and come in a range of sizes.
With tiny ones who so often have a habit of launching things out of the pram we have always found clip on anythings a real life saver! Konges Slöjd do some beautiful pram toys with a gentle bell in fruit designs and some super useful knitted pacifier clips.
Who ever knew that changing mats could be so stylish?! We have two gorgeous designs for the home as well as this lovely travel version with handy storage pockets.

Perfect Party Dresses
We're firm believers that you don't necessarily need a party to roll out your best dress. Our own offspring often supermarket shops looking ready for a tea party for the Queen, and why not? Clothes can and should be fun, whatever the occasion!
The current favourite at home is Huxbaby's cherry cat ballet dress, it's a super cute design available in both black and shell and also comes in a bodysuit version for the tiniest of girls.
The Huxbaby cherry cat tulle skirt is also proving to be really popular and is surprisingly versatile, it looks as awesome dressed down with trainers, a tee and sweat top as it does with sparkly shoes and a pretty top.
For a truly festive feel MarMar Copenhagen have some luscious greens and sparkly golds that come together to make the perfect Christmas Day outfit. Here we have an elegant version of the ballet skirt in a stunning leaf green, the lightweight mid length tulle skirt has an elasticated metallic gold waistband and is fully lined. We've teamed it with this beautiful and super soft gold lurex cardigan with mother of pearl buttons and a single front pocket.
For a (much!) less conservative look take a walk on the wild side with Bang Bang Copenhagen, a high-fashion look that is functional as well as huge amounts of fun. Some of our favourite picks this year are the animal inspired dresses that include cats, penguins, rabbits and swans. These outfits can be tamed with some plain basics and accessories or made even more fierce with some of Bang Bang's super fun tights and socks. Personally we'd go all the way!
Hugo Loves Tiki is another of our bold brands whose aesthetic includes striking graphics, European languages and cartoon-like illustrations. This season has seen some gorgeous bow and collared dresses in some really fun prints such as soda cups, pink and red bunnies and cupcakes. For the festive period though we think this striped print is perfect as it is so reminiscent of candy canes!
