1+ In The Family: Soft and Comfortable Baby Clothing
1+ In The Family first launched back in the Autumn of 2012 and was created by Gemma Mases, an experienced designer who is mum to three children herself and, by her admission, something of a children's fashion enthusiast!
The brand launch coincided at with the birth of the designer's niece, little baby Bruna and, as Gemma recounts, it is her sisters brave decision to start a family as a single mother that encouraged her to undertake a project that she had been dreaming for so long, and so 1+ In The Family was also born.
One Family: Three Beautiful Brands
Rylee and Cru have been with us since SS18. Founded by Californian Illustrator Kelli Murray Larson and inspired by her own young family, their collections are brimming with high quality basics. Timeless, comfortable and easy-to-wear styles in soft and subtle seasonal colour palettes and prints, for babies right through to adult.
More recently the Rylee and Cru collective have added two new brands to their portfolio, Noralee and Quincy Mae, both of which are delighted to be stocking for the first time this season.
The Simple Folk
We are thrilled to welcome The Simple Folk to Junior Edition this Autumn. Minimalist, organic and oh-so beautiful clothing for babies and young children up to 10 years of age, whose roots in nature and the natural world can be keenly felt.
Conceived by two friends during their shared journey through the early years of motherhood, Jamie Morea (who is based in Portugal, amongst their community of talented sewers and knitters) and Abi Brown (who lives in and works from London) wanted to create clothing for children reflective of their own lifestyle and philosophy, products that they found surprisingly difficult to find elsewhere, in the sea of fast-fashion brands.
A Warm Welcome to L.F Markey
New to Junior Edition for the forthcoming Autumn/Winter season is London based brand L.F Markey. We have long admired, loved (and worn) pieces from their collection of minimalist but elegant women's workwear staples and adding them to our growing portfolio of ethically produced, sustainable fashion is something of a dream come true. No prizes for guessing what I'll be top to toe in this season!
And, as if that wasn't exciting enough, we are THRILLED to be partnering with Louise to exclusively bring you her long-awaited, debut children's collection.
Emile et Ida
Emile et Ida's collections are always brimming with cheerful designs that are easy to wear. Fabrics are soft and natural and folk, rock, romantic and retro influences can be often be felt. Their clothing is simple and comfortable, never boring and most importantly of all, perfectly suited to the busy and active life of a child.
The brand's creators, Delpine and Céline, are themselves the grandchildren of tailors and Emile et Ida started life in the family home, supported and encouraged by those closest to them and grown through hard work, perseverance and the desire to create something special.
Beautiful Bachaā
We are delighted to welcome beautiful French brand Bachaā to Junior Edition for the first time this season. Created in Paris in 2019 as an expression of a love for and connection to India, the name Bachaā is the phonetic transcription of the name that parents affectionately give to their children in Hindi (pronounced BaTchaA).
Bachaā create the prettiest clothing using artisanal processes such as block printing and hand embroidered detailing, for this reason no two garments are quite the same, every piece has its own slice of unique!
Poudre Organic: Para Sempre
Poudre Organic is the brainchild of Manon and Quentin who, having struggled to find affordable ecological and natural clothing for their third child, started to make a range of simple, practical and beautiful clothing for their daughters. Inspired by fabrics such as organic cotton muslin gauze and traditional, vintage styling this evolved into a much admired collection of clothing that other people both loved and wanted too and so in 2014, Poudre Organic was born.
As the name itself suggests, everything in the collection is organic and the clothing itself is ethically made in Portugal using only the softest organic cottons that are GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified as well as other low energy materials such as linen. Their designs are lovingly put together in small scale surroundings where the name of every seamstress is known to Manon and Quentin.
We Are The New Society: The Sea Side of Life
The New Society is a truly beautiful collection of clothes for both children and women created by Estefania Grandio in Madrid. Designed with sustainability and made in Europe using organic fabrics it is our third season with this beautiful brand.
Their SS21 collection is called The Sea Side Of Life - as seaside dwelling folks ourselves it was always going to be a concept we were going to fall in love with, even if Brighton isn't quite as evocative of sunny sandy days as the med!
Bobo Choses Presents......The Happysads!
With the summer sunshine still blazing outside you might be wondering if its even possible to start getting excited about what Autumn/Winter has to offer. For the avoidance of doubt, that will be a big fat YES IT IS!!!
When the latest Bobo collection arrived with us last week (ALL FIFTY BOXES OF IT!!!) we couldn't wait to see what was inside and boy we have not been disappointed, their latest collection is EVERYTHING!
For AW18 Bobo Choses presents the coolest little band we have ever seen. With songs about children and the roller coaster of feelings they experience, they are The Happysads!
This collection is completely inspired by kids and how they express their emotions at an age where it can be hard for them to relay how they are really feeling - we've all been there...the temper tantrums and meltdowns one minute and the joy and exhilaration of being young and free the next - moods as changeable as the weather!
As for our favourite pieces, could there be a task any more impossible? The combination of colours, prints, fabrics and styles makes it so hard to choose but we'll give it our best shot.
For the teeny-tinies we're absolutely loving the rompers.....
And for the big kids......how is it even possible to look this cool!?!?
There is so much more to see in-store and online, including the most gorgeous fleece jackets and winter coats, come visit us in our Brighton store, the sun is shining and the beach beckons! Or browse the full collection online here - you will not be disappointed.
PS - Just because, I'll leave you with this....
Rylee + Cru - The Seaside Collection
We are SO excited to welcome the awesome Rylee + Cru to the Junior Edition fold! Founded by illustrator Kelli Murray and inspired by her own little ones, Rylee + Cru merges art and imagination, offering unique and artistic clothing for the modern child.
Given that we're Brighton based we are particularly excited about their latest collection. Inspired by the sand and sea, this is THE most stunning range and has us all excited about when the sunshine finally hits these shores.
Choosing our top picks was an almost impossible task but the baby rompers and jumpsuits are probable faves - from beachballs and seagulls to palm trees and seashells, there is an huge range of colours and prints to choose from.
The collection consists of quality basics that are each hand garment dyed, giving them a soft vintage feel right out of the box. The shapes are comfortable and the fabrics are soft, making dressing and movement easy.
For the older girls we were particularly taken with this stunning two piece - the seashell button-front skirt and off the shoulder top in cocoa, available in ages 2/3 right up to 6/7.
Maybe its a children of the 70's thing but we LOVE short shorts on a boy and the flock taylor shorts in stormy blue immediately caught our eye. Whilst there's LOTS of beautiful tees that would make the perfect partner, we especially love the beach ball tank in spice, both available up to age 7.
There's so much more to see, click here, sit back and ENJOY or visit our lovely store in the heart of Brighton's North Laine district.
Bobo's Never-ending Summer
As a child, Jane Goodall was given a cuddly chimpanzee toy named Jubilee and her passion and love for animals was ignited.
In later life Jane's adventure led her to the Gombe Stream National Park in Africa where she spent her life watching and learning about chimpanzees, she is now credited with being one of world's foremost experts on the species.
Never-ending Summer, the SS18 collection from Bobo Choses tells the story of young Jane, focussing on the questions she sought answers to as a child, curious about the world around her.
To pick our favourites from this sublime range has been an almost impossible task, quite frankly we are as in love with this exciting new collection as we are in awe of Jane's inspiring work.
The baby range boasts some brilliant brights as well as more muted khakis and greens and the most beautiful range of knitted culottes which look fabulous at any age.
For the older girls there are some simply stunning sundresses and skirts which we loved teamed here with the Novesta Forest sneaker.
There are some really fun shorts and tee combos for the boys and lots and lots of unisex pieces, we love the jumpsuits that look just as fab on boys as girls.
Never-ending Summer is our biggest collection yet with some 150 pieces in the range and we've also extended our range up to 9 years! From wardrobe essentials and swimwear to hats and bags, we've got it covered!
Indulge yourself further with a look at our complete collection here or come visit our store in the heart of Brighton's North Laine area and see this beautiful new collection in all its glory!
