Christmas - that crazy, wondrous period of excess - how we LOVE it!! Inevitably we've overdone it again this year and whilst the focus still firmly remains on ploughing through the five (!) remaining boxes of chocolates before the end of December we have also had THAT conversation in our house - the carb-free, alcohol-free, oh my god I have a whole stone to lose one. Yes, as of January 1st we are strictly BACK TO BASICS!
We've had a little re-jig on the shop floor this morning too, taking a moment to coo over those gorgeously outlandish seasonal prints and patterns we have so loved AW17 but also appreciating those practically perfect basics. The ones that go with everything, the ones that tame a pair of intensely patterned leggings and those that come together to make a more muted yet equally beautiful and classic ensemble.
MarMar Copenhagen were a new brand for us this season, their gorgeous tulle skirt and gold lurex cardigan were one of our party picks in a previous blog post but its their newborn baby bits that have stolen our hearts. The striped and black rib pictured below are also available in rose, blue, and melange grey, both beautiful and practical.
We love that leopard is considered a basic by Mini Rodini, its such an ace print and surprisingly versatile. In our house the leggings are probably the most requested piece, I literally can't wash and dry them quickly enough for the next wear! All bases are covered from short sleeve tees and grandad shirts to rompers and bodysuits, but its the fleeces that have been proving really useful during this cold spell. I would literally live in the onesie if they made it big enough!
Gray Label brings calmness to the world of children’s fashion with their minimalistic basic line. Their gently coloured wardrobe essentials are made from 100% organic cotton and are 100% GOTS certified, they really are quite simply the softest thing ever. The tiny baby range make perfect newborn gifts whilst for the older kids we really love the pinafore dresses and salopettes with coordinating tees and cardigans as well the long sleeve playsuits for lazy days at home.
We adored the Tinycottons main collection inspired by the high plains of South America this Autumn/Winter (llama love!) and earlier this month were thrilled to announce that we are one of 25 hand-picked retailers worldwide to stock their new basics range. The collection is full of minimal, premium quality basics in world-friendly organic cottons with simple, well thought out detailing. We stocked up on bodysuits, bonnets, blankets and bibs in light beige for our most junior edition but there are some lovely undies for the older ones too.
Indulge yourself further with a look at our complete collection here or come visit our beautiful store in the heart of Brighton's North Laine area.
Inspired by the children's story Ferfereh (paper windmill) that tells the story of a young girl's journey across a surreal landscape of a blue desert to find her brother, with the help of her magical paper windmill and a guardian firebird.
The collection is extraordinary, with three dimensional shapes stitched into T shirts, graphic knitwear and structured 3D tailoring. Ine De Haes uses innovative fabric techniques, folding and tailoring to create three dimensional forms on garments.
The piece of the season? There are two! Ine has created a 3D fabric with permanent 3D cubes pressed into the fabric, so that it drapes into cubes rather than folds. This fabric comes in a T shirt or open-back top. And the best bit is it's low maintenance and washable - the cubes will always be there!
This collection is very limited and we only have 2 pieces of each style, in age 4 and age 6. (Ine does not design in ages smaller than age 4... yet.) We also have a couple of pieces in age 16 coming in which roughly equate to a UK 8-10, please email us for more information.
Once upon a time, a girl and boy were wandering across the blue desert...
Based in - and also made in - Los Angeles, Omamimini offers a cool, laid-back vibe – just like a sunny California day. The range is sophisticated and impeccably made, yet effortless. Omamimini take pride in using the highest quality fabrics, producing clothes designed to last both the rigours of kid's play and growth spurts.
All the Omamimini collection is unique and stylish, yet comfortable and easy for everyday wear, with clean silhouettes, pleated tailoring, super soft supima cotton T shirts, dip dye pieces, asymmetric hemlines and swing dresses. Casual luxury mixed with a bit of rock 'n' roll California style!
Nadadelazos collections are always creative and fun with a lovely background story for the inspiration behind the collection. Spring Summer 2016 is based around a main character called Turgi, who lives in a yurt throughout the year. Prints are inspired by her life and culture - with an all over bold sun print, pretty bead necklace print and graphic yurt print that coordinate with bold stripes, illustrations featuring Turgi herself and also her friend Oghul and her camel called Buddy!
All Nadadelazos collections are ethically produced and have the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified label.
Nadadelazos clothes are practical, wearable and above all else, comfortable. Cottons are always organic and beautifully soft, with simple, cool shapes for Summer - drop crotch pants, playsuits and jumpsuits, A dresses, circle skirts with oversized pockets and simple racer back vests - perfect for warm summer days.
We love the Turgi print which adds a pop of colour to a monochrome palette and the graphic 'Red Nar' (red sun in Mongolian) circle print. Mix and match prints from the collection with the bold black and white stripe pieces.
Don't miss this lovely fun and sun-filled collection - check it out in the shop now!
The latest collection to arrive with us is the beautiful SS16 collection from Emile Et Ida called 'Road Trip'. Inspired by adventure, travel and long Summer holidays, this collection has a lovely nostalgic Summery feel, and features several themes - 'On The Road', 'Yummy Time' and 'On Board'.
On The Road / Yummy Time features soft peony pinks, milk white and apricot jersey cotton with a tiny burger dot print and vintage stone-wash chambray, and is inspired by roadside stop-offs and Americana. We love the chambray jumpsuit with the embroidered cat face on the back!
On Board is ocean-themed, featuring Mr. Fish who wears a little hat, just like the book 'Where is my hat?'! Nautical navy and stripes complete the look in relaxed sweatpants and Breton style T shirts.
There's also a sardine print too, we love this cool monochrome illustration (also wearing a little hat!)
The camper van is ready, let's go travelling! Check out Emile Et Ida now...
Tinycottons is one of our most popular brands at Junior Edition, and it's easy to see why. Gorgeous soft pima cotton tops and pants, with clean modern prints and great design.
The SS16 collection is called "Botanical - a very bold and crazy garden story", and has a plants theme as a leading motif of the collection.
The graphic story this season is full of white, complemented by green and terracotta and and also some very refreshing pastel colours in light blue, peach and light pink - gorgeous colours for Summer!
Pastels are very pale and can be worn by both boys and girls.
The prints for SS16 are perfect for little garden lovers, with plant pots, gardeners, ants tracks, water texture and watering cans.
These compliment an on-trend graphic grid print, stripes and trademark X logo pieces.
Nununu's latest collection launches today! Known as the brand that dresses kids in black, SS16 continues with a predominantly monochrome theme.
Each new collection carries their classic practical but cool shapes, in signature Nununu star print, and introduces a new print and fabrics - this season we have more denim pieces and the stunning new geometric print.
Every garment is pre-washed several times to give it a worn and weathered look and also make the clothing super-soft to feel and wear. This process also impregnates the garments with Nununu's trademark signature scent (it comes out after a few washes. once you smell it, you are hooked!).
Our range has extended this season to include Nununu baby, and bedding sets in the stars and geometric prints.
Check out some of our favourites from the new collection, and the full range in the store now.
We think it's their best collection yet, with a huge choice of amazing prints - a stunning space print on black with shooting stars, dinosaurs in pink(!), green and yellow, the gorgeous dreamy cloud print in two colour ways and the Tivoli Toy print in multicolours.
We've added swimwear to the collection for summer holidays, as well as some fabulous summer jackets and coats - check out the Taches print waterproof lightweight hooded coat in beige and the stunning embroidered rainbow bomber jacket in pink and dark blue.
We've also introduced this season's must-have Mini Rodini sneakers in three colour ways. In organic cotton and rubber they are totally vegan and made responsibly with fair wages as you would expect from Mini Rodini.
Popupshop SS16 has arrived! And it's a stunning collection. As well as the ever-popular animal digital prints (this season's faves are the panther, tiger and cats) there's sophisticated, more abstract detailed prints - elephant skin, flowers and leopard moth wings.
Popupshop is one of our favourite tried-and-tested brands. Not only are the prints amazing, we love the supreme quality of Popupshop's organic isoli cotton - it wears and washes really well - we had the cream cats last season and despite a multitude of wears and spillages they remain as new.
We've restocked on our popular tiger print, and our sizes now range from 3-6 months up to age 7, so babies can look cool in the panther and tiger pants too.
And the first of our swimwear range arrives! Tiger swim shorts, a cat swimsuit and a tiger beach towel and swim bag.
New in today is Tootsa MacGinty's lovely new collection for SS16 'Moules Frites'.
Tootsa MacGinty won the Best Childrenswear Award at the prestigious UK Fashion and Textiles Awards in 2015. and their latest collection is beautiful, inspired by the landscapes and cultures of France, and designer Kate Pietrasik's childhood holidays in France.
The collection is a melange of timeless French style and iconic fashion, cafe culture and infamous French cuisine. We have a T shirt with a Tour de France of cycling animals, 'Tricolore' whales and Allo sweatshirt, and bright Breton stripes, all in soft pre-washed 100% cottons.
Denim pieces in traditional 'France Bleu' with a Provencal paisley trim complete the French look - we love the jeans with removable braces, button-through denim dress and shorts to mix and match for Summer.
Check out our picks for Spring Summer and add a bit of French "Je ne sais quoi" to your kids wardrobe!
