Marcel by Eda Akaltun

Meet Marcel – he’s a New Yorker through and through!  He and his human know all of the best spots in downtown, and nothing comes between them.  But wait… Who is this new person? Why is everything suddenly different?

Eda Akaltun‘s charming debut explores family relationships through the eyes of a particular young pup, and shows that sometimes accepting change can be truly rewarding.

Eda Akultun studied illustration at Central Saint Martin's in London before moving to New York to write and illustrate her first children's book.  She has also produced work for a large range of clients, including the V&A MuseumNew York Times, Herman Miller, Elle Canada and The Guardian. Prior to her work with Flying Eye Books, her illustrations can be found in the Nobrow magazine, of which she is a founding contributor. Her work displays a beautiful playfulness with form and colour, while striking a delicate balance between digital, painting, drawing and collage, that forces you to stop and pay attention, and her graphic style gives this book a modern contemporary feel.  Using a combination of collage and photography, the book really brings New York to life for the reader.
