Oedo-Koh Aloeswood Incense by Nippon Kodo

Regular price £34.00

Oedo-Koh Aloeswood Incense by Nippon Kodo. Savor the deep, rich fragrance of aloeswood, prized by the people of old Edo as the most luxurious of fragrances. Aloeswood is more valuable by weight than gold and the most expensive aromatic ingredient available. All of the incenses in the Oedo-Koh range take inspiration from old Edo, the Japanese capital city from 1603 until 1868 (now known as Tokyo). During the old Edo reign, the fragrance of aloeswood was regarded as being a highly prized scent, and the Oedo-Koh aloeswood incense pays tribute to this, using top quality kyara aloeswood kyara hime, a delicate and luxurious fragrance. The Oedo-Koh incense is clean burning, comes packaged in a paulownia wood box and has a small tin incense holder included. Includes 60 incense sticks.

Fragrance: Dark, Aromatic.
Key Notes: Aloeswood.
Burn time: 12 minutes.

The Oedo-Koh incense range from Nippon Kodo takes inspiration from old Edo, the Japanese capital city from 1603 until 1868 (now known as Tokyo). The range features six unique and evocative scents with creative themes based on folk tales or traditions from old Edo times. Each box comes with decorative Japanese art packaging and a complimentary incense holder made of tin with a design resembling the stone pavements of Edo. Each stick burns cleanly for about 12 minutes. Traditional Japanese incense is a low smoke, solid stick made without a bamboo core and infused with essential oils for a pure, clean fragrance and a soothing experience.

Directions: To light Japanese incense, simply ignite the tip, let it flame briefly, then extinguish the flame so it can smoulder. Unlike Indian incense, Japanese sticks do not have a bamboo core, so there is no specific end to light. The gentle, low-smoke burn is an integral part of enjoying the fragrance. Insert the unlit end of the incense into the incense holder. If you are using a ceramic plate and a small stand (like the one that comes with Nippon Kodo's Oedo-Koh range), the stick will burn at an angle.

Made in Japan.

Nippon Kodo, a Japanese company founded in 1575, have been producing incense for over 400 years, with roots tracing back to Koju, an incense maker for the Emperor of Japan. The company blends centuries-old traditions and skills with modern perfumery to create high-quality, low-smoke incense using natural aromatic materials.
