Liilu: Bloom
Liilu creates timeless, sustainable clothing that is both minimalistic in design and classic in style. Sibylle Pal is the German designer and mother of two at the heart of this brand and her collections are very much rooted in memories from her own childhood and influenced by years of travel.
The collection itself is manufactured in Portugal, made entirely from 100% organic cotton making it wonderfully kind to the most sensitive of skins. Every Liilu piece has gone through a special washing technique that gives the garment a unique softness and signature scent.
The Liilu SS21 collection is entitled Bloom and draws its inspiration both from the blooming Spring in Portugal and the flowering process as a whole. The cycle of nature and its ephemeral beauty influence, together with the shapes, textures and colours that process brings.
Liilu's signature muslins feature strongly in this collection together with pretty prints and embroidery detailing. Strong, warm colours also abound and these colours also feature in Liilu's pretty flower print for this season.
I'm going to kickstart with one of my favourite pieces of the season which, rather excitingly is also available as an adult version! The Terry Blouse, as the name suggests, is a short sleeved terry/towelling blouse in a warm sunkiss colour. Made from 100% organic cotton with elasticated short sleeves and hem it has a statement cotton collar in milk that contrasts so beautifully with the sunkiss. This sold out very quickly in our very smallest and largest sizes but we do still have availability in ages 4-10 years as well as women's sizes.
We have lots of pretty dresses this season including the sleeveless Lina, the collared Penelope, the oversized Liilu and the Mina and Pipa Apron, in a multitude of colour and prints. If a pant style is preferred then look no further than the gorgeous Sota overall. The Sota is a sleeveless style with a cropped leg and tie back in contrast ribbon together with a patch pocket detail on the front. Available in 2-12 years and made from 100% organic muslin this is such a simple and easy wear to style, in a gorgeous rustic check.
The exclusive Folk capsule for SS21 extends the collection, these garments are made from a natural flamée muslin with the prettiest embroidery detailing in Portugal's famous blue tone. There are seven pieces in the Folk collection, four for children age 2-12 years and three for women with the two dresses replicated across both if you fancied twinning!
We have extended our womenswear range this season and are delighted to bring you thirty-two pieces that include dresses, blouses, overalls, skirts, shirts and pants. From pretty prints to earthy tones there is something for everyone and I'll certainly be adding a few pieces to my summer wardrobe this year.
Of the dresses, I love the loose fitting Lina. I'm rather partial to some good airflow on those really hot summer days and found this style perfect last year! A sleeveless dress with ruffles around the shoulders and across the chest together with a flared ruffled hem, I found this to be a very flattering cut, with a freedom of movement that comes in hugely helpful for running around after active offspring! This style comes in a nude, toffee, pistachio and rustic check this season.
We have a lot of blouses in this season's selection, its a style that Liilu do so well. Long sleeves, short sleeves, balloon sleeves, no sleeves, collars, ruffles and pockets all feature across the collection! The Sumi short sleeve fine knit blouse with ruffled trim sleeves and hem is REALLY special and comes in both milk and pistachio and I love the Stella blouse which is embroidered with broderie lace detailing and mid length sleeves, its just so versatile and the colour is beautiful.
