The first instalment of the (quite frankly AMAZING) AW20 collection from The Animals Observatory dropped on July 21st at the slightly un-godly hour of 6am CET (thats 5am UK time folks, 5AM!) so armed with lots of strong coffee and slightly bleary-eyed we hit the launch button and waited for lift-off!

Launch days are always a slightly apprehensive affair, will you love it as much as we do, did we plump for the pieces you are going to love? The answer was a resounding YES and we were thrilled to read all of your positive feedback and see several pieces and sizes sell out in those first couple of days. When you get all the feels, we get the all the feels too so thank you!

AW20 from The Animals Observatory is, as you have probably come to expect, a pretty eclectic and utterly marvellous affair. This season's collection is a love story with pop iconography, from David Hockney to Jarvis Cocker, with a touch of Bruno Munari´s geometrical aesthetic.  Bold outlines with colours clashing in the best possible way… purples with greens, reds with blues, it works!

There are structured looks and oversized silhouettes which can be put together to create both high fashion, statement making outfits as well as more muted everyday ensembles. Mix and match and mix and un-match to your hearts desire!

Drop 1 produced lots of gems (but my god am I excited about the furry jackets still to come). The winter knitwear ALWAYS makes me swoon, and my favourite piece of the collection so far has to be the GLORIOUS Arty Bull Kids Sweater in beige. I can't put my finger on what I love so much about it, I guess probably those gorgeous pinks and blues and greens that just pop. It's my must-must-have from this drop!

Some of you may have noticed that we carry an age 14 in The Animals Observatory so I'll let you into a little secret....age 14 TAO comfortable fits an adult woman up to around the 5'8" /UK size 14 mark! Honestly this was such an exciting revelation and we have a number of really fabulous t-shirts and sweatshirts suitable for adults this season (several designs have already sold out so I know some of you are in the know!) I nabbed 3 sweatshirts from the current season and have my eye on the cardigan too!

We have your littlest ones covered too and have jumpsuits, rompers, bodies, sweatshirts, pants and tees available in drop 1 with more to follow. Sizes start at 6 months and go all the way up to 18 months after which time they will be able to cross-over into the kids collection. It's hard not to fall in love with everything in a baby size but I'm really keen on these dots pieces, those colours!!!

There are so many more highlights and of course a ton of gorgeous pieces yet to launch! Drop 2 will be live on Tuesday 11th August but in the meantime the collection so far can be seen here. Stay tuned to our instagram account for further news and sneak peaks of what's still to come!

Also rather excitingly our bricks and mortar store in Brighton's vibrant North Laine re-opens on Saturday 1st August!

For those familiar with the shop, things will look a little different. We've pared back the product available in store but you will find a carefully curated collection of beautiful toys, books and homewares together with new season clothing from Bobo Choses and Mini Rodini plus Gray Label, Poudre Organic and Liewood, reorganised in a way that we feel makes for a better and safer shopping experience at this time.

As much as we wish we could throw open the doors to the crowds who love to browse just like the good old days, due to the size and nature of the shop we will only be able to accommodate two families at a time at the moment. We kindly ask all of our lovely customers to please sanitise their hands, mask up and limit the handling of product where at all possible.

We can't wait to welcome you back and we appreciate your support, not only in the months gone by but the weeks to come too, those pennies spent in store really will mean everything to us!
