Welcoming any new brand to Junior Edition is always exciting and with two adventurous and active daughters of our own this is one that is especially close to our hearts as the range fits so perfectly with our own lives.

Little Cottons Clothes was founded by sisters Imogen and Leonie, who themselves have five children between them. When their daughters were born they struggled to find any clothing to suit their needs - simple, beautiful, traditional pieces that were as affordable as they are desirable. With a determination that can only be admired they set about creating their own clothing line, drawing inspiration from their own childhood experiences, growing up in the English countryside surrounded by adventure, fun and laughter.

Every item in the range is designed by the sisters here in England, then lovingly handmade in a handful of small factories in India and China. Their manufacturing partners have been carefully selected, providing ethical working conditions and practices together with fair treatment and pay for their respective employees.

All the clothes are made from natural fabrics and every trim and detail has been carefully selected. Any waste fabric is donated to a charity in India who recycle it to make clothes for families in need.

This is clothing that is made for adventurers and explorers – small people with big imaginations, kids that want to splash in puddles and climb trees, run wild and have fun. All the things that we love to see our children do and that make childhood itself such a magical adventure in clothing that we as parents, quite frankly, adore!

AW20 is our first season with Little Cotton Clothes and it really is the most beautiful collection. Several of the pieces are so reminiscent of dresses from my own childhood in the 70's, none more so than the Delia dress in nut velvet with a pretty cotton lace collar. I had something so similar in a dark blue velvet and somewhere in the archives have photo of me blowing the candles on my birthday cake wearing it, so it must have been a favourite! Unsurprisingly this dress has been really popular and sold out in 4/5 and 5/6 years at launch but will still have selected sizes from 2/3 years all the way up to 8/9 years available.

Choosing a favourite print from this season is almost impossible but I think the green hydrangea floral is especially pretty. This comes in both the Jemima dress which features a sailor collar and gathered wrists (from 2/3 to 5/6 years) as well as the loose fitting Marcie blouse with a lace collar as seen below (from 2/3 to 6/7 years).

Their bloomers are beautiful and brilliantly versatile. The Folkestone button front bloomer comes in velvet cord and 3 colours - nut, clay and blue. The very smallest sizes have already sold out across all 3 variants but are still available in 12-18 months all the way up to 3-4 years. We've teamed the blue pair here with the Eadie Sailor Collar Blouse which is available up to 8-9 years, some T-Bar Mary-Janes from Angulus and a pair of wool rib tights in dark grey melange from MP Denmark.

If its a brand that's new to you, its a collection that is well worth viewing in its entirety - pretty, practical and very affordable, its love here!
