This special edition Blackwing Volume 57 notebook comes with a Blackwing 57 pencil and is printed with one of Basquiat’s untitled skull paintings on the cover. Features some original Basquiat illustrations printed on the inside and comes with 160 pages of high-quality 100 GSM Blank paper with gold-gilded edges.

The Blackwing 57 is a tribute to Jean-Michel Basquiat and his boundary-pushing art. The number 57 is a reference to 57 Great Jones Street in New York City, where Basquiat created some of his best-known works.

Blackwing pencils are high-quality graphite pencils known for their smooth writing, premium materials, and unique rectangular eraser. The brand was established in the 1930s by Eberhard Faber and was a favourite of many legendary creatives, most famously by writer John Steinbeck and animator Chuck Jones. Production ended in 1998 when the machine used to make the clips for the erasers broke down, and the remaining Blackwing pencils became highly sought after. The pencils were revived in 2010 by California Cedar Products. Claimed by many to be the best writing utensil in the world, Blackwing pencils are famous for the quality of graphite, iconic shape, replaceable eraser, and the men and women whose works they’ve inspired throughout the years.

In addition to the core line, Blackwing regularly releases special limited-edition pencils, known as Volumes, that feature unique designs honouring different cultural icons and movements.
