When a forest is cut down, the consequences are more than anyone could have anticipated.  A Forest is an simple and powerful environmental parable from the talented illustrator Marc Martin.  Strikingly illustrated in watercolour, pen and ink, this tale of deforestation exudes a magical quality when read aloud, even to little ones who might not understand the story's full implications.

The story tells how a forest grew into woodland and was destroyed (and eventually renewed) by the actions of humans, and provokes discussion on sustainability, how man affects nature and climate change and how trees and forests grow.

Marc Martin is an illustrator, artist and book maker based in Melbourne, Australia. His illustrations have been commissioned by clients such as Monocle, Wired, The Financial Review and Capital magazine. He is also the author and illustrator of The Curious Explorer's Illustrated Guide to Exotic Animals A-Z.  A Forest won the 2013 Crichton Award for Children's Book Illustration.
