Koolabah is a Swedish design concept that creates unisex fashion for small trendsetters from 3 months to six years. Koolabah want the clothes to be nice to look at with minimalistic design and unique shapes, but at the same time strongly focus on functionality and ergonomics. Edgy, timeless, in your face fashion that exudes individuality and attitude. Inspiration is drawn from Scandinavian and Japanese culture and retro elements from the 80s are a recurring theme in all collections.
The latest collection from Koolabah for AW16 is called 'Tales', and is inspired by the magic and myth gathered by the Brothers Grimm in the 19th Century. Their stories have been part of the way children and adults learn about the vagaries of the real world and are in many ways present still today. Bold prints feature popular characters and words from The Pied Piper of Hamelin, The Town Musicians of Bremen, Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel. Colours are predominantly tonal, with Koolabah’s signature monochrome prints, the irregular dots and stripes, mixing with bold orange to give the collection a dash of colour.
The overall look to the collection is one of relaxed ease where added volume is combined with a lack of structure, with pieces which are so slouchy and comfortable that kids will want to live in them all day.
